(Neb.)-Johanns, Nelson Nominate CHS Senior Wil Brown for West Point

Nebraska Senator Mike Johanns announced his thirty-seven nominees for the four military academies, Thursday.  Among them was Chadron High School senior Wil Brown, who was nominated to the U.S. Miltary Academy at West Point.

"I am pleased to support these students and their desire to serve our country," Johanns said. "They all have a strong record of leadership and academic achievement and will be outstanding representatives of our state."

Nebraska’s Senator Ben Nelson,  Wednesday,  released the names of 39 young Nebraska men and women he has nominated to attend the four U.S. Service Academies.  Nelson also nominated Brown for West Point.

“Once again an outstanding group of young people have applied to attend the various service academies,” said Nelson.  “These are some of the finest students Nebraska has to offer. Each has impressive academic and physical fitness records and excellent leadership abilities. These are qualities that are necessary to serve our country well.”

• Mitchell I. Bell of Elkhorn has been nominated to the U.S. Air Force Academy. Bell attends Elkhorn High School.
• Wil C. Brown of Chadron has been nominated to the U.S. Military Academy. Brown attends Chadron High School.
• Jeremiah J. Buhlmann of Broken Bow has been nominated to the U.S. Naval Academy and the U.S. Military Academy. Buhlmann attends Broken Bow High School.
• Alexander R. Carlson has been nominated to the U.S. Military Academy. Carlson attends Millard North High School.
