KBPY Annual EEO Report

04/17/2018 - Clyde E. Katen

There are no services planned at this time for Clyde E. Katen, age 60, of Henderson, NE. The family will be having a private service at a later date.

Clyde passed away on April 5, 2018 with his family by his side in Grand Island, NE.

He was born on April 12, 1957 in Lake Charles, LA to Harold and Pearl (Thompson) Katen. He was the oldest of seven children. Clyde graduated high school in Chadron, NE.

Clyde was united in marriage to Kathy Lee on June 21, 1980. They resided in Hay Springs before moving to Texas in 1983. By 1986, they had three children. Clyde had worked hauling equipment for the oil fields, pulling mobile homes, and driving for a test fleet. He and his family moved to Henderson in 1993. He worked as an over-the-road truck driver for companies in the Grand Island area before becoming an owner operator.

Clyde enjoyed reading, gardening, and wood working in his spare time. The last few years he had grown a collection of chickens, which he spent a lot of time caring for. A trucker until the end, he loved to talk. He could tell a story and give instructions or advice to anyone who was willing to listen.

He is remembered with love by wife Kathy Katen; children Alicia (Scott) Morrison of Chadron, NE, Stephanie (Cory) Leedom of Lincoln, NE, and Michael (Christa) Katen of Chadron, NE; grandchildren Ashlyn and Addison Morrison, Logan and Grayson Leedom, and Wyatt Katen; father Harold; brothers William and Steven; sisters Anna, Rosie, and Mary Ann; many nieces and nephews; and a few close friends.

Clyde was preceded in death by mother Pearl Katen and brother Daniel Katen.

His family would like to thank Park Place Care & Rehabilitation Center and AseraCare Hospice for their care during Clyde’s time of need.
