Funeral services for Yvonne Arline Chulk Masek, age 96, of Chadron, NE will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Chadron, NE with Bishop Jacob Butler officiating.
A graveside service and dedication of the grave will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Chadron, NE.
A memorial has been established. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, PO Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337.
Arline passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Crest View Care Center in Chadron, NE.
Born on January 6, 1922 in Chadron, NE, she was the daughter of Fredrick Henry Chulk and his WWI French bride Yvonne Josephine Marie Anna Glebert.
Arline was married on August 21, 1940 to Joseph Herbert Masek in Scottsbluff, NE. They were married for 70 years preceding Joe’s death on September 12, 2010.
She is survived by children Frederic Joseph Masek of Parker, AZ, Marshall Leroy Masek and wife Rosalind Kay of Dillon, CO, Rennee Yvonne See and husband Greg of Eugene, OR, Annette Murial McLaughlin and husband Michael of Portland, OR, and Bradly Germaine Masek and wife Tara of Overland Park, KS; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Arline lived nearly all of her life in Chadron. Being a homemaker, she enjoyed camping with her family, reading, and quilting. Arline and Joe helped to establish the LDS Church in Chadron, where she served in various positions for over 60 years. She was active in the VFW Women’s Auxiliary following WWII and the Dawes County Historical Society. She was one of the original founders of the Chadron Natural Food Co-Op and enjoyed working there, meeting and visiting with many Chadron residents. She enjoyed playing the washboard in a musical group that visited area nursing homes.
