A memorial service for 81-year old Glen Cavaness of Chadron will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Chadron, NE. A light lunch will be served after the service.
Glen passed away at his home on December 19, 2016, six weeks after the death of his wife of 61 years, Maxine.
Glen was born on April 6, 1935 in Ekalaka, MT to Goerge and Hazel Cavaness. He was the youngest of four children, and while he was still young, they moved to Chadron. After graduating from Chadron High School, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps and was stationed in San Diego.
He married Maxine Stumph on November 25, 1955. They raised four children. After graduating from Chadron State College, Glen worked at a variety of jobs before starting as an engineer for the Nebraska Department of Roads, from which he later retired.
Glen enjoyed coon hunting and horses. He owned many horses throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by parents George and Hazel Cavaness, brothers David and Donald, sister Irma, and wife Maxine.
He is survived by children Ryan and wife Pam from DeLeon, TX, Joyce land from Chadron, Curt and wife Terra from Rapid City, SD, and Russ from Chadron; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
