Bonnie had a passion for helping woman look their best. From 1971 until 1991, she owned and operated the House of Beauty in Alliance. In 1976, she was named the Alliance Chamber of Commerce Business Women of the Year. She also served as an ambassador to the Chamber. In 1991, Bonnie continued as a stylist at both Hairworks and the Hemingford Community Care Center.

Her work at the care center led to a new focus on assisting with the care of senior citizens. Toward that end, she re-entered college and attended classes at Chadron State and WNCC. She graduated from WNCC in 2001 with a degree in Assisted Living Management and obtained a Healthcare Administration license. She then managed the Hemingford Community Care Center and Sandhills Assisted Living facility from 2001 to 2005. When her health began to decline with the early onset of dementia, she retired in 2005.

In 1968, Bonnie was united in marriage to Robert L. Reifschneider in Hemingford. Two children resulted from this marriage: Renae LeeAnn and Brenda Jo. She later united in marriage with William (Bill) Tragesser in 1991 in Alliance. Although this marriage ended in divorce, they remained close until Bonnie’s health declined.

In 1993, Bonnie was reunited with a daughter that she gave up for adoption; Laura Jean Taylor. Bonnie and Laura developed a special bond that has been especially strong for the last twenty years. Bonnie dedicated her life to being involved with her children. She was a 4-H leader, Campfire leader and held several offices in the Hemingford Music Parents Association.

She was also a lifetime member of the Box Butte General Hospital Auxiliary, and held many offices. Bonnie loved crafting and quilting, and made numerous quilts for the yearly Box Butte General Hospital raffle. She won several “Best of Show” and “Best of County” ribbons for her crocheting, cross-stitch, quilts and handiwork at the Box Butte County Fair.
