Funeral services for Dwight E. “Hamm” Black Elk, age 56, will be Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Wakpamni CAP Office in Pine Ridge, SD, with Reverend Abraham Tobacco officiating.
Traditional Lakota Services will be provided by Mr. Fred Cedar Face.
A two-night wake service will be Thursday, June 13, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Wakpamni CAP Office in Pine Ridge, SD.
Burial will be at the Mediator Episcopal Church Cemetery in Kyle, SD.

Dwight was preceded in death by his mom and dad, sister, Henrietta Black Elk; and brother, Reginald Black Elk, Sr.
Dwight passed away June 7, 2013 at SanfordSelectSpecialtyHospital in Sioux Falls, SD.
He was born in Rushville, NE on August 7, 1956 to Henry Black Elk, Jr. of Oglala, SD and Zoey Morrisette-Black Elk of American Horse Creek, Kyle, SD. Hamm was born with Down’s Syndrome and he withstood all of the odds that came with it. He happily lived for 56 years, always surrounded by the love of his family and the many people whose lives he touched with his contagious smile, happy and generous personality, he was our miracle man.
