Funeral services for Kathryn Marie Johnson Redfern, age 96, will be Monday, January 21, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Chamberlain Chapel in Chadron.
Burial at Hay Springs Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Hay Springs Rescue Unit, The Chadron Senior Citizens Community Center or a charity of the donor’s choice. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, P.O. Box 970 Chadron, Nebraska 69337.
Kathryn Marie Johnson Redfern died Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at the Chadron Medical Center, Chadron, Nebraska.
The youngest of ten children, she was born February 14, 1916 in Tarkio, Missouri, the daughter of Charles M. Andrews and Julia A. (May) Andrews. Her family moved to Hay Springs, Nebraska when she was five years old.
She was married to Harold Wayne (Swede) Johnson on August 10, 1934, in Hot Springs, South Dakota. Swede and Kathryn raised three daughters, Jacqueline, Rita, and Terry.
She and Swede farmed in the Hay Springs and Oral, South Dakota. Kathryn worked many years at the First National Bank in Hay Springs.
Kathryn married Clyde Redfern in Torrington, Wyoming on January 19, 1981. Clyde died in 1986. She spent the remainder of her life as a resident of Chadron, most recently at Prairie Pines Lodge. She loved to dance, play cards and bingo, and meet her friends at the Senior Center for lunch.
She was preceded in death by her parents, nine siblings, both her husbands, one grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.

Daughters: Jackie (Ike) Swigert of Oral, SD; Rita(Kenny) Dexter of Ft. Worth, TX; Terry (Doug) Richardson of Casper, WY.
Grandchildren: 5
Great Grandchildren: 10
Nieces & Nephew- Numerous
Chamberlain Chapel of Chadron is in charge of arrangements.
